SUN-Diego, Caleefornia

Well, I have been in San Diego for the past couple weeks for school. At first it was kinda sucking because it was rainy and windy for the first week I was here. Now the weather is back to what it normally is--sunny.

During my time here I have got to see some people that I haven't seen in a long time. Namely, my sister, who traveled all the way from Las Vegas to see me, and Clayton and Dionitia. The pang of missing someone seems to dull after time. Then you reunite and realize just how much you still missed them. And it is so crushing to part ways again! Unfortunately, Amy and I have dealt with that a lot during our time with the Navy. We have met many amazing people, some that we consider part of our family (Jeremy, Ivie, Jesse, Hector and Jhing, Clayton and Dionitia to name a few).

As many of you know, Amy and I lived in San Diego from December 2004 until we left for Japan in July 2006. During our year and-a-half here we grew to love San Diego. It was SO hard to leave it. Coming back for a month has really stirred up some nostalgia (and other emotions). We are at a much later chapter in our lives now since our additions to the family on March 24th of 2007. So, as much as it pains me to say this, San Diego may not be the city for us any more. BUT IT SURE WAS FUN TO VISIT!

They are getting SO big...

My baby girl can now wear a pony tail!! Where did the time go? She's been able to wear pigtails and have her hair halfway up (kinda looks like a fountain on the top of her head, LOL) but never a true ponytail. She was so proud last night when I put her hair up. She proceeded to pose for me, and was purposely keeping her eyes closed but still smiling for her pictures.

And speaking of getting SO big, Aidan goes down the slides on the playground ALL BY HIMSELF! Can you believe it? He loves them, of course. :) It's funny (and a little scary) watching him go down the slide and slide right off the end of the slide onto the ground, but he just gets right up and does it again. :D

So out of sheer boredom, I "elfed" our family. LOL, it came out great!!

Entry Numero Uno

Amy and I were just discussing starting a blog...so here we are.

I guess I will start off with a little update on the fam. Aidan and Gwen are growing like weeds at 20 months old. Gwen just got over a stomach bug and today was Aidan's turn. Bunch of nastiness around here. Amy is the only one who's been holding out. She'll get hers! :) No, hopefully she is able to avoid it.

Thanksgiving just passed a couple days ago. We had the best dinner (don't argue, I know ours was better!). We hosted three single sailors who work for me on the ship. Amy made a 20-lbs bird, homemade pumpkin cheesecake and cranberry sauce, taters, gravy, pumpkin pie, rolls and stuffing. The turkey was so moist that juice squirted out when we poked it with the thermometer! And the pumpkin cheesecake was to die for! This was the best t-day I have had in a long time.

This Christmas will be very good to us, as well. I will be home to celebrate with the little ones and shortly after New Year's we will be packing our stuff to move back home. That's right, on January 21st we are saying "Sayonara, Nippon!" We will be flying from Tokyo to Seattle for some much needed R & R. Then I will be headed to San Diego for a month of school. After that, it's back to Oak Harbor where we will be living for the next three years. We are very excited about this move because Aidan and Gwen will be able to see our family much more often as well as their daddy (I will be on shore duty). My plans are to take them to all the outdoorsy things that they have missed out on in the urban jungle known as Japan. Fishin', huntin', campin' and hikin' just to name a few. They will be ready for city life by the time we are up for orders again. :)

That is about it for now. Keep checking back as we plan to update this frequently. And there will be pictures to follow soon.
